Within the music

Sound exists within the dimension of time, while visual images do not—at least not in such an obvious way. For many years I listened to music while I drew or painted. This seemed to help bring other dimensions into the image. Here, the person appears to be One with her music.

  1. Hi Jude, I love this painting. I see someone whispering within the black ball. As I contemplate her posture, her expression, and even the white almost washing from her right ear, I think, “In one ear and out the other.” She makes the practice look so easy! 🙂

  2. Hi Jude,

Did you see my comment on your painting? I still get the creeps posting, so I figure I’d better practice.

I actually found your comment: > > Sound exists within the dimension of time, while visual images do notat least not in such an obvious way > quite intriguing because I don’t know what you meant by it. Surely sight and sound exist equally within time as different wave forms, and equally outside of (what we think of as) time as perceived by the subtle senses? K

    1. Yes, Kathy! Thanks for commenting!
That’s why I said “such an obvious way”– music evolves through time in a way that images do not. For example, you can’t hear a symphony in one second, but you could view an image in that time.
